It’s a common occurrence. You get a call from the general superintendent saying that vandals jumped the security fence and vandalized your equipment and construction site.

Jobsite vandalism is an expensive headache. It causes delays, stress and other issues. If you want to avoid jobsite vandalism, follow these tips.

    • Install remote security systems – Installing a remote security system on your construction trailer can help protect it from break-ins and vandalism. These systems are easy to install and are really effective in alerting authorities.
    • Consider remote security cameras – Placing remote security cameras on and around the jobsite can help deter vandalism and catch the criminals. Today’s security cameras are really effective in working in low-light areas such as construction sites.
    • Invest in good fencing – A good fence will keep vandals out of your property most of the time. The key is to make it difficult for the person to commit a criminal act. Consider getting fencing with barb wiring.
    • Get security lighting – Security lighting can help make criminals more visible to witnesses during an act of vandalism. It’s an affordable option that can help catch vandalism in the act. However, if you want to prevent vandalism, you should add some of the above options.
    • Think about security guards – Having a security guard service visit your jobsite can help deter vandalism. A security guard presence is a good option. However, it can be expensive. You’ll have to weigh the benefits versus the possibility of vandalism. Some the other options mentioned earlier are more affordable.

These are a few excellent ways to protect your construction site from vandalism.  For even more tips, subscribe to our RSS and email feed on the Hue & Cry, Inc. Blog.
