  • Technology That Kills Construction Site Productivity

Posted on October 17th, 2012 admin No comments

Technology can really help boost productivity. It can also kill it in a blink of an eye.

Here are some technologies that can significantly drain construction site productivity.

    • Email – Checking your email every 5 seconds is a huge productivity killer. Set designated times to check and respond to email. Don’t let it derail a productive day. Only respond to emails ASAP if they are a high priority.
    • Social Media – Thanks to smartphones people can play on Facebook and other social media websites on the job. Don’t let this happen to you or your crew. Limit social media use to your own personal time.
    • Old Computers and Printers – Make sure that your computers and printers are regularly serviced. This will help to prevent downtime, which can kill productivity. When your computers and other equipment need to be replaced, don’t sit on it. The problem will only get worse.
    • Crappy Security Systems – Does your construction trailer have a crappy security system? Are the security camera surveillance systems sub-par? You need your security systems to protect your job site from theft. Construction site theft can grind productivity to a snail’s pace.

These are just a few technologies that can kill construction site productivity. What types of technology slow productivity on your job site? Leave your comments below.
