  • What’s the Prime Time for Home Break-Ins?

Posted on July 13th, 2012 admin No comments

Maybe it’s because of movies, but there is this notion of burglars lurking at night just waiting to break into a home.

In reality, this is just a myth according to our research.

In general, most home burglaries happen during the daytime. We researched various studies and all said that more burglaries and break-ins happen during the daylight hours. Here are a few highlights.

According to Apartment Wiz, 72 percent of burglaries take place during the day. The website analyzed more than 2,000 burglaries during a single month in Houston. They found that most burglaries happen between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.

CrimeWise.com shared similar stats, as did LifeTips.com. They said that 63.1 percent of burglaries happen during the daytime.

Whether it’s 63.1 or 72 percent, it’s pretty obvious why criminals choose to burglarize homes from 7 to 5… no one is home.

If you want to protect your home, it’s important to have a good home security system. Criminals are looking for easy targets. A home with a security system will keep burglars from even thinking about breaking into your home.
